Wendy

Wendy's connection with hospice care began during one of the most challenging times in her life, when her husband was diagnosed with cancer in 2012.

"[The hospice] provided exceptional care for my husband and offered emotional support to me and my family," says Wendy. "They didn't just tend to his medical needs, they supported us emotionally through everything. That left a lasting impression on me."

After her husband's death, Wendy wanted to stay connected to the hospice. She became a volunteer, assisting with education projects and speaking to medical students about her experiences as a bereaved person. These sessions help young medical professionals understand the human side of loss and are deeply rewarding for Wendy and the hospice team.

Wendy's experience with the hospice also opened her eyes to the financial realities of running such vital services. Understanding the significant costs involved, she decided to leave a gift in her Will.

"If you're in a position to support an organisation that's made a real impact on your life, it's a decision worth making," says Wendy.

Hospice care was there for Wendy when she needed it most and by leaving a gift in her Will, she’s making sure that compassionate care will be there for others in their time of need too. Through her gift, Wendy's legacy of support for hospice care will live on.
