Together we can protect the future of hospice care

We know first hand the life-changing impact that good hospice care can have on people with life-limiting illnesses and those around them. That’s why 143 hospices across the UK have united in a powerful coalition to ensure hospice care lives on for all, for now, forever.
“As the demand for hospice care grows, we must act now to secure its future. This coalition represents a powerful step toward ensuring that everyone in the UK can access the care they need at the end of life.”
Catherine Bosworth, Director of Income Generation and Grants at Hospice UK.
It’s care at home, and in a hospice, care for those dying and for those around them. It’s going the extra mile, doing away with convention and remembering what really matters. It’s easing pain and bringing comfort, cherishing memories and creating new ones. Part of the community, part of our story, part of us.
But by 2040, annual deaths are expected to rise by 130,000, and as many as 90% of those people could benefit from hospice care. The increase in demand will place unprecedented pressure on our hospices, which already rely on support and funding from supporters to provide their services.
Without urgent action, too many people will face the end of life without the support they need.

Gifts in wills are crucial to the survival and growth of hospices across England, Scotland and Wales, providing 15% of the voluntary income that hospices rely on to deliver essential care.
Hospice care is free at the point of use. But, unlike the NHS, it is not fully state-funded. While hospices receive some government funding, more than £1 billion of the £1.6 billion they need each year comes from generous donors.
With rising costs and growing demand for hospice services, these gifts are more important to hospices and their communities than ever. By leaving a gift in your will, you can help ensure that hospice care is there for anyone with a life-limiting illness to live life right to the end.
This coalition is made possible by the dedication of 143 hospices across the UK. We deeply thank each hospice for their unwavering commitment to providing compassionate and specialist care to their communities.
